Fresh Flowers
Fresh flowers are best supplied by your florist with your
other wedding flowers to ensure a perfect match of types, styles and
colours. Do be sure to give your florist as much information as possible,
particularly the dimensions and shape of the sprays you require and the
wedding cake. Remember too, that if your cake is displayed on pillars or
certain stand designs, there will be restrictions on the height available
for your flowers.
Alternatively, you may prefer a spray or sprays of sugar flowers which can be designed to compliment the Bride's bouquet. Almost any type of flower can be reproduced in this way and may be kept for many years as a keepsake of your special day. They may also be mounted under glass or acrylic domes or frames.
Centre Piece
Hand-made centre pieces featuring sugar hearts and stars, feathers,
diamantes, candles and tulle or silk-effect sugar drapes are all popular
alternatives to traditional flowers to finish your cake top.
Sources of Inspiration
The possibilities for your cake design are too many and varied to cover
here, but if you are looking for inspiration you may like to buy one or two
bridal or sugarcraft magazines to browse through. Friendly relatives with
suitable cookery books are often useful to refer to. Library books can also
be a good source of ideas.
